Services We Provide
To prevent numerous oral health problems we recommend a check-up every six months. Generally, check-ups include several steps: we start by reviewing your concerns, dental chart, and medical history so we can provide top care for you. A regular check-up includes a careful visual exam of your mouth, checking the color and contours of your gums.
Next we take the necessary Digital X-rays to diagnose other conditions that cannot be easily seen. X-rays show us cavities between and inside the teeth, signs of periodontal disease (gum disease), such as the loss of bone around the teeth. In addition, x-rays allow us to see cysts, abscesses, and other problems.
Then we clean your teeth, this is routinely known as a prophylaxis or “prophy.” To clean your teeth, we use instruments to carefully remove tartar and plaque above and below the gumline. Also use polishing instruments to remove stains from your teeth. Finally, we will carefully review your homecare routine.
We have different types of in-office and home Whitening systems available. We believe that there is no one ideal bleaching system. It is very dependent on the individual patient needs and wants. We are happy to discuss these options with you and help you choose the method or the combination of methods that will give you the best and the longest lasting result.
Small restorations are best treated conservatively with composite (tooth colored) fillings. No silver (amalgam) fillings are done in our office. Large restorations are ceramic inlays, onlays or crowns, which are biogenetically identical to your own teeth.
Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length after preparing the surface of the tooth being treated.
When extensive tooth decay or damage occur, a dental crown can restore function, beauty, and form to a structurally unsound tooth. The types of dental crowns range from porcelain crowns to porcelain fused to metal crowns to gold crowns. Most often, our image conscious patients choose Procera (all porcelain) crowns to maintain a gorgeous smile while restoring optimal function and strength.
Gum disease is an infection of the tissues and bones that surround and support the teeth. It is also called periodontal disease.
Besides resulting in loose teeth, this condition causes bad breath. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planning) can be done to arrest this disease. For patients who have periodontal pocketing over 5 mm, a course of antibiotic therapy or various grafting or bone enhancing techniques are available. Our specialist will discuss with you the various options for treatment, both surgical and non-surgical.
A dental implant is a small “anchor” made of titanium. It is inserted into the jawbone to take the place of your missing tooth root. When the surrounding bone has attached to the implant, a replacement tooth Abutment and crown) is secured to the top of the implant. The new tooth looks, feels, and performs just like your natural teeth. If something happens to your natural teeth, you can continue to live confidently with implants. Implants are a solution proven by experience to last for many years. They look and feel like your natural teeth, and eliminate the worry something coming loose or dentures slipping off. We offer quality implants by ZIMMER.
Every tooth extraction is different. Some are simple and some require more extensive procedures. Surgical extraction is required whenever the tooth cannot be removed by simple forcep extraction. 3rd molars known as wisdom teeth can become painful, difficult to clean and in most people are not necessary to hold on to. Conditions that warrant surgical removal would include cracked teeth, impacted teeth, severely decayed teeth, or any condition that makes the extraction a bit difficult. Extractions are done by qualified, experienced doctors so that you have nothing to be afraid of.
A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. Root canal procedures are performed when the nerve of the tooth becomes infected or the pulp becomes damaged. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. This is called an endodontic treatment or root canal.
Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, can relax a patient during dental procedures. The patient will be awake and responsive to the dentist. The gas is delivered through a facemask.
